1866-1957: Valeriano De Stefani, first generation, starts cultivating vines and producing wines in Refrontolo, on the hills between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, that today has become a UNESCO Wold Heritage site. Afterwards he is joined by his son who had the same name Valeriano, the second generation. The focus is given to the production of wines from dried grapes, specialized vineyards are planted in the best lots of land and the native varieties Marzemino and Prosecco are favoured.
1958: Tiziano De Stefani, third generation, graduated at the Oenological and Viticulture School of Conegliano and starts managing the family company.
1963: the first vineyards in the Piave area are purchased after years of research of the lots of land that could guarantee the production of white and red wines with a particular character. Vinification of the grapes in Fossalta di Piave starts.
1969: installation of a system for the control of the temperature for the fermentation of the wines and their refinement.
1972: introduction of the first small barrels for the aging of the wines.
1984: the first 4.200 vine vineyards are planted; a revolution for that area and that time. This will allow an extremely low yield of grapes per plant.
1985: first harvest of the Tombola di Pin Millesime traditional Method sparkling wine, single vineyard in Refrontolo.
1987: the process of drying the grapes is improved through the creation of a specific room with temperature, humidity and ventilation controlled.
1992: Alessandro De Stefani, fourth generation, graduates in Oenology and Viticulture at Conegliano, joins his father Tiziano in the management of the company and continues the studies with a degree in Business studies at the University of Venice and of Warwick (England).
1993: a new vinification cellar is built in Fossalta di Piave.
1996: start of the creation of a distribution network for the export market, which will bring DE STEFANI wines to be present in more than 40 countries in the world.
2001: restoring of the agricultural building in Refrontolo and creation of a small winery and a panoramic tasting room.
2003: first vintage of the Stèfen 1624 from the Marzemino vineyard planted in 1985 on the Refrontolo hills. An ancient tradition of the end of 1800 of the De Stefani family has been resumed.
2007: the Raboso Piave vineyard for the production of the Malanotte is planted. Furthermore, we refine the production under a very natural philosophy: in the vineyard absence of herbicides and chemical fertilizers and in the cellar vinification without added preservatives and sulphites.
2009: thickening of the vineyards keeping all the vines planted between 1985 and 1986: 8.400 plants per hectare.
2013: widening of the cellar in Fossalta di Piave with the construction of modern cellars adapt to refine the wines in barrique and in bottle, to dry the grapes and to offer a tasting and show room.
